Family and Womens Health Nurse Practitioner

Molly Bradshaw O’Neal has been an affiliate of Cumberland Family Medical Center since 2018. She completed her undergraduate nursing degrees at Eastern Kentucky University, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at the University of Kentucky [2005], and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey [2016]. She is nationally board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Community Paramedic. Her practice as a nurse practitioner at Russell Family Medical includes patients of all ages.  

Dr. O’Neal is a Veteran of the United States Navy Nurse Corp with a nursing background in labor and delivery, the operating room, school health, and hospital management. She is the former director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Rutgers and the DNP Program at EKU. She has served as Chair of the American Association Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Steering Committee on Practice Leadership and was nominated twice for the NONPF (National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty) Rising Star Award. She is published nationally in peer-reviewed literature on subjects such as the prescribing habits of nurse practitioners, chronic disease management, Asthma COPD Overlap Syndrome, teaching innovations, and the use of infographics in clinical practice. She is the co-author of The DNP Project Workbook: A Step by Step Guide for Success with Springer Publishing and works in various roles as a private consultant. She is active in a national movement to expand primary care to the paramedic role via Mobile Integrated Health, working to assist paramedics in successful completion of the IBSC Community Paramedic Exam.  

A Russell County native, she is happy to be back in her hometown practicing full time with her husband Chuck and miniature dauschaund, Scooter.
