Family Medical Centers Celebrates Continued Success of Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program
Family Medical Centers is proud to celebrate the continued growth and success of its Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program, an innovative program designed to prepare newly licensed nurse practitioners to confidently transition into practice while strengthening access to high-quality healthcare in the communities we serve.
Since the program began, 19 Family Nurse Practitioner residents have successfully graduated, with 16 choosing to continue their careers with Family Medical Centers. This represents an impressive 84% retention rate and demonstrates the program’s impact not only on professional development, but also on building and sustaining a strong healthcare workforce for the communities we serve.
As Kentucky’s first and only Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program, the program provides residents with an intensive year of hands-on clinical experience, mentorship and professional development. Residents work alongside experienced Family Medical Centers providers while building the clinical skills, confidence and knowledge needed to care for patients across a variety of healthcare settings.
Celebrating Cohort 5
Family Medical Centers recently celebrated the graduation of Cohort 5, recognizing another group of nurse practitioners who completed a challenging year of learning, growth and hands-on clinical experience.
Throughout their residency, Cohort 5 residents strengthened their clinical decision-making skills, expanded their knowledge and gained valuable experience caring for patients in the communities served by Family Medical Centers.
Their graduation represents an important professional milestone and another step forward in Family Medical Centers’ commitment to developing highly skilled healthcare providers who are prepared to meet the needs of patients throughout Kentucky.
We congratulate the members of Cohort 5 on this well-earned achievement and look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make throughout their careers.
Welcoming Our Newest Residents
As one cohort completes its residency, Family Medical Centers is also pleased to welcome the newest members of the program: Haley Adams, APRN, and Kelsie Hammons, APRN.
Haley will provide patient care at Adair Family Medical Center and First Choice Immediate Care–Adair, while Kelsie will provide patient care at First Choice Immediate Care–McCreary. Both will also complete specialty rotations across various CFMC clinic locations as part of their residency experience.
During their residency, Haley and Kelsie will provide compassionate, high-quality patient care while gaining valuable hands-on experience and receiving mentorship from experienced Family Medical Centers providers.
Their arrival continues a growing legacy of nurse practitioners who have chosen Family Medical Centers as the place to begin and, in many cases, continue their careers.
Investing in Providers. Strengthening Communities.
The success of the Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program reflects Family Medical Centers’ ongoing commitment to investing in the healthcare workforce and expanding access to exceptional care.
By providing new nurse practitioners with additional clinical experience, mentorship and support as they transition into practice, the program helps prepare providers to confidently care for patients while creating a pathway for talented healthcare professionals to build long-term careers within the communities Family Medical Centers serves.
With 19 graduates, 16 retained providers and a new group of residents continuing the program, Family Medical Centers is proud of the progress made and excited about what lies ahead.
